Individual support for your child
Your child’s key worker will be your primary point of contact. They will lead the way in looking after your child, nurturing them and providing activities and challenges tailored to their individual needs and interests. They will get to know everything about your child, to ensure we make their experience at nursery as enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding as possible.
While your child’s key worker will be responsible for planning and supervising your child’s time at nursery, we are proud of the fact that every member of our team knows every child extremely well. This is something that Ofsted has identified as a particular strength of our nurseries. Being surrounded by caring adults who all know them well helps children to feel safe, confident and happy.
Starting your journey
Before your child starts at Tiddlywinks, their key worker will liaise with you to get to know all about your special little person. We ask parents or carers to create a family book, with photographs of the people, places and objects that are special to your child. At nursery, this acts as a comfort in your child’s early days with us, and gives us something to share and talk about with them.
Your key worker will supervise settling in sessions with you and your child before they start nursery. During these sessions, we create an “All About Me” book that gives us important information about your child’s likes and dislikes, routines, comforters, sleeping preferences and all the important things we need to know. Following this, we hold another session when your child can attend nursery by themselves, spending a couple of hours with their key worker and the other staff and children.
Monitoring and supporting progress
Once your child is attending nursery, their key worker will carefully monitor their progress and provide daily updates. They will observe your child and ensure they are reaching key milestones in their development and learning journey. Our key workers are skilled at subtly observing the children to identify any gaps in their learning or development, so that we can adapt sessions to help children reach those milestones. We are very creative and can try many different strategies to help children develop in a way that’s right for them. We ensure children are supported at every stage, and enable them to learn and grow without even knowing it.
