Our full-time chefs at York and Easingwold create delicious meals to ensure your children enjoy a healthy, balanced diet to fuel their activities and imaginations.

Delicious home-cooked meals

We understand the importance of providing nourishing, tasty food that children enjoy, which is why we provide freshly cooked, home-made meals throughout the day. We source our food locally wherever possible, including meat from local butchers and fresh fish from Whitby. Fresh fruit is always available.

Varied and nutritious food for busy little people

Our talented chefs create a varied menu that changes seasonally, giving children the chance to enjoy a wide range of foods – from traditional roast dinners to pasta, curries and dishes from around the world. We liaise with parents through questionnaires to find out what they would like to see on the menus. We cater for every possible dietary need, allergy, medical condition, personal preference or faith requirement.

Sharing and caring at mealtimes

We serve breakfast, lunch and tea every day, plus morning and afternoon snacks. At mealtimes, toddlers and pre-school children serve themselves and sit together at tables alongside the staff. It creates a wonderful family atmosphere, and children are encouraged to sit and wait respectfully until everyone has their food before they eat. Manners are very important, so we encourage lots of please’s and thank you’s.

Everyone loves snack time

We use a free flow snack system whereby we  put out snacks for an hour in the morning and in the afternoon, so children can come and choose what they want when they want it.  The children always wash their hands and then wait for a seat at the table before they have their snack.  This teaches the children patience and how to take turns, two very important skills!.

Health and well-being

As well as providing a nutritious, balanced diet, we support health and well-being through physical activity and exercise. We provide lots of opportunities for children to be fit and active, as well as ensuring they get enough rest to maintain their health and vitality.
